About

Palm Beach Atlantic University Preparatory Program in Dance, administered by Eileen Hebron, offers the highest quality, multi-disciplinary dance training available in South Florida to students and professionals at all levels.

Our Classes

Classes provide the tools, discipline, and attention each student needs to achieve his or her own personal goals. All students are challenged and encouraged to reach their highest potential while developing respect and joy for dance in all its forms.

For Ages 5-18

For ages 5 through the teens, the PBA Preparatory Program in Dance offers classes at age appropriate levels in all programs. Students experience the joy of the body moving in space while developing their technical skills as they progress through each level.

Levels & Participation

In order to keep skill levels consistent in each class, admission to intermediate and advanced levels requires participation in a placement class and permission of the instructor. Some courses may require a prerequisite.

Opportunities

The PBA Preparatory Program in Dance is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough eight-level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development.

The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.

Primary through Level 3 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Eileen Hebron, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Advanced classes will also include partnering, pointe, men’s class and repertory.

The Preparatory Contemporary/Modern Dance program is based on a unique blend of the techniques of modern dance greats Lester Horton and Merce Cunningham, with additional studies in movement analysis, dance composition and improvisation.

The Preparatory Jazz Dance program is based on styles and techniques first developed in the 1940’s under the guidance of such pioneers as Jack Cole and Katherine Dunham. The syllabus for this truly American dance form begins with simple isolations and progressions. It later incorporates refined body conditioning exercises.

The Preparatory Tap Dance program uses barre and center work to explore the various aspects of tap vocabulary including shuffles, clogs, soft shoe, military rhythms and single, double and triple sound techniques. Dance routines are taught to stimulate coordination and memory retention.

Dance Department Guidelines

  • All classes begin and end at their scheduled time. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your class, and to depart no later than 15 minutes after your class has ended.
  • It is suggested that valuables be brought to the studio in dance bags. Any article left in the studio will be left in the “lost and found”. Please put your name in all your shoes and dance wear. All articles not claimed by the end of the month will be donated to Goodwill.
  • Parents, relatives and friends are invited to quietly observe classes during regularly scheduled observation periods (the last week of the month). At all other times, observation is at the discretion of the teacher. If you have family or visitors waiting for you in the lobby, please inform them of our school’s policies.
